Pianist and former Shure student, Seth Knopp, has a conversation with one of the great pianists of our time, Leon Fleisher, at Fleisher’s home in Baltimore, MD. Both reflect on their unique experiences with Leonard Shure. Leon Fleisher conducted the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in a concert honoring the 100th anniversary of the great pedagogue and performer, Artur Schnabel. Joining Fleisher were pianists, Claude Frank and Leonard Shure. All three were students of Schnabel. Shure performed the 5th Beethoven Concerto (“Emperor”) which was recorded live and released by Audiofon Records. This is a two-part interview.
